Scott Wagner has made it very clear that he wants to defund Planned Parenthood. Yesterday, he doubled down on his insistence on stripping health care options away from women. When asked what could replace Planned Parenthood’s services, which include providing birth control and cancer screenings, Scott Wagner was unable to say where women should turn for care if he succeeds in defunding Planned Parenthood.
“Harrisburg politician Scott Wagner wants to strip women of their health care options and slam the door on their access to care,” said Beth Melena, communications director for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. “Wagner’s plan is simply irresponsible and dangerous for the women of Pennsylvania.”

“Wagner is a co-sponsor of a bill that would prohibit the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Human Services from funding “any entity that performs abortions … or maintains or operates a facility where such abortions are performed.” That bill also provides for federal and state funding to be redirected from Planned Parenthood and toward community health clinics.” [York Daily Record, 4/19/17]
