Senator Toomey Gives Betsy DeVos Tax Break On Backs Of Pennsylvanians

As Republicans debated late Friday night on a tax plan that will add $1 trillion to the deficit, give tax breaks to the wealthy, and devastate health care plans for millions of Americans, Senator Pat Toomey slipped into the plan a tax exemption for a Michigan college for his good friend, Betsy DeVos.

“It is astounding to see how little respect Pat Toomey has for Pennsylvanians,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Brandon Cwalina. “Instead of working with Democrats to come up with a tax plan that would help and grow the middle class, Toomey is using the cover of darkness to give tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires like Betsy DeVos. All the while, the people of Pennsylvania have to pick up the tab. Pat Toomey made his decision and sided with special interests and millionaires over middle-class Pennsylvanians. We will not let him forget it.”
