Yesterday, SB 3, the most restrictive anti-choice bill in the country, passed the House with no public hearings and is now on it’s way to Governor Wolf’s desk. Governor Wolf has vowed to veto this disastrous bill, but if one of his Republican opponents wins the Governor’s office, this bill will become law. SB3 criminalizes a woman’s health care decisions in consultation with her doctor and forces women and girls who have been the victims of rape or incest to carry their pregnancies to term.
“Scott Wagner, Paul Mango, and Mike Turzai are openly advocating for the most restrictive anti-choice bill in the country and are fighting over who is the most anti-woman candidate,” said Beth Melena, communications director for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. “It is shameful that Turzai, Mango, or Wagner would sign SB 3 as governor and It’s even more disgusting that they are only supporting this bill in order to gain political points. The Republican gubernatorial candidates would be absolutely disastrous for women and Pennsylvanians will hold them accountable for their anti-women stances in 2018.”
“Wolf, a Democrat, has vowed to veto the bill [SB 3], while three of his would-be Republican challengers – state House Speaker Mike Turzai; GOP Sen. Scott Wagner of York County, and Pittsburgh-area businessman Paul Mango, support it.” [PennLive, 12/12/17]
