Blogging has become a daily habit for many people who care deeply about an issue or many issues. It’s simple to blog. Once you choose a favorite site and see that it allows for comments, you can become a blogger. However, you should keep in mind that several rules apply:
Since you can’t take back what you write, make sure that you get your point across – respectfully. No matter how much someone ticks you off, make sure that you don’t stoop to a level where you will offend someone. Blogging should be fun and informative, not offensive.
Nothing is more frustrating to a reader – or counter-productive to your cause – than ranting and raving about a subject without knowing what you’re talking about. The Internet is FILLED with many useless opinions. Don’t let yours be one of them.
If you want to be persuasive, you need to make sure that you have the facts to back you up. Not only does this make you look informed, but you may change someone’s opinion on an important topic.
If you want to blog on a subject matter but don’t have much research, ask for help. If you have something that you want to talk about – such as health care – and need facts and figures, be sure to contact Abe Amorós at amoros@padems.com and ask for background. That goes for just about any topic that’s important for Democrats.
Don’t take yourself too seriously when you’re blogging. Make sure that while you write, that you do it because you care enough about an issue, not to make yourself seem like an expert.
