True To Form, Toomey Dodges Question From Allentown Morning Call
HARRISBURG, Pa: With Republicans across the country calling on Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele to resign due to his recent comments on the War in Afghanistan, one Republican, former Wall Street derivatives trader Pat Toomey is staying silent. According to the Allentown Morning Call, in typical Pat Toomey fashion, he "is not weighing in on Steele" and had "no comment." Despite all the talk coming out of both sides of Pat Toomey's mouth about wanting to be leader for his party, why can't Toomey give a simple yes or no answer?
"If former Wall Street derivatives trader Pat Toomey really wants to be a leader in his party, why can't he answer a simple yes or no question: should Michael Steele stay or go?" said PA Dems spokesman Patrick McKenna. "Pat Toomey has a bad habit of trying to have it both ways and he owes it to the people of Pennsylvania to say if he condones Michael Steele's comments on Afghanistan. If not, will he call on Chairman Steele to resign?"
Yesterday, even Pennsylvania Republican Congressman Charlie Dent criticized Michael Steele for his insensitive and out of line remarks on Afghanistan. Dent joined other Republicans such as Senator McCain, conservative columnist Bill Kristol, and Liz Cheney in condemning Michael Steele's comments. Last Thursday, RNC Chairman Michael Steele called the War in Afghanistan a "War of Obama's choosing" and not something the U.S. "wanted to engage in."
