Why Is Mary Isenhour LYING?

I just received an e-mail from Mary Isenhour, insinuating that should Joe Sestak lose tomorrow, that the Congressman would potentially support Toomey.

This is factually incorrect.

Want to verify it for yourself? Check the article... ON CNN'S website:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/05/17/in-defeat-sestak-would-fall-in-line-to-try-to-beat-toomey-in-senate-contest/?fbid=kRI0akwjXOV

The headline for the story? IN DEFEAT, SESTAK WOULD FALL IN LINE TO TRY AND BEAT TOOMEY IN SENATE CONTEST.

The quotations they use from Joe Sestak? He said he would "do anything to make sure we beat Pat Toomey."

In addition, he said "As I said, I come from a background in the military where the prospect of winning is the only, only option you have.... But I'll do anything to make sure that Pat Toomey doesn't win. But we're gonna win. Pat Toomey is gonna lose."

These are the words that Joe Sestak used.

To insinuate anything else is reprehensible, and it smacks of the same "politics of fear" that we have accused the Republicans of as we attempt to move the country forward on such important issues as health care reform.

To quote Mary Isenhour, I was "stunned" to receive this e-mail.

So, when people ask me who solidified my vote for Joe Sestak tomorrow, I will let people know that it was Mary Isenhour.

Shame.

I am ashamed to be a member of the same party as Mary Isenhour. A last-minute smear based on a bald-faced lie? That's what Republicans do, not Democrats.

Somehow it's fitting that it's done in support of a Republican trying to run as a fake Democrat. Once Joe Sestak wins tomorrow, it's time to clean house with our state "leadership."

This kind of conduct should never, ever happen in our party.

I want to defend Mary Isenhour for her e-mail regarding Sestak's appearance on CNN. While I didn't see the broadcast, I read about it on Politico and in another source who interpreted his response to the question as hedging. I have other concerns about Sestak. At one time, I considered volunteering for his campaign. I changed my mind when I perceived him to be avoiding taking a stand on issues, bashing Washington, and emphasizing his naval career. Instead of focusing in his television ads on what he wants to do as a senator, he only speaks of what he sees as wrong with Specter. At least Specter is frank about his political choices, and since becoming a Democrat, he votes in the Senate as I want him to vote.
