Ray Clark Allen, Lock Haven, PA - I met Jack Murtha late one night when he visited the late Allegheny County Commissioner Tom Foerster, on a typical late night at work. They served together in the legislature. Their legacies speak for themselves. Sympathy to family & all who share fond memories.
Jo Ann Nardelli - Sympathy and prayers to his family at this time. He was a close friend of my Uncle in Cambria County; when my uncle died, Congressman Murtha sent a beautiful peace lily....Now it is your turn our friend...rest in peace & say hi to my uncle.
God Bless his family at this time.
Diana Atkinson - Your shoes will be impossible to fill, Sir.
Kristine Melville - You were a great man and a great politician. You will be greatly missed by everyone who knew you. RIP Congressman John Murtha.
Jim Mihelcic - Jack,
We all mourn the loss of a dear friend and
public servant. You will always be in our hearts and prayers. May God grant you eternal peace.
the Ven. Dr. Anthony Stultz -
It was an honor to know you. You were a true servant of the people. May you go from strength to Strength and light to Light.
Karen Tesoriero - Congressman/Senator? What's the difference?
Karen Tesoriero - Senator Murtha stepped forward to declare an end to Bush's folly in Iraq and our President listened. God bless his spirit.
Martin Dees, Jr. Lancaster County PA - I am deeply sadened by the passing of Congressman Murtha. While I am not in his District, I have followed his approach to helping and keeping America strong. His understanding of what was needed to keep America strong in war and peace was unique among the congress, and those in government as a whole. His family should take comfort in knowing that many of us in and outside Pa held and hold Congressman in great esteem
Rick Schwab - As a newspaper editor, I enjoyed covering Congressman Murtha over the years, and was always impressed with his intellect, his drive to help the people of his district, and his command of a broad range of issues, from military spending, to health care, to local history. It was a delight to watch him interact with his constituents, particularly when visiting his boyhood hometown of Mount Pleasant, PA. He made a great impact on our area and his accomplishments will be hard to match by any successor. Condolences to his family and staff. May he rest in peace.
Nina Licastro - Truly an American hero is gone, you will be greatly missed
Hal Donahue - The nation and military are stronger for your service, sir. The world is a poorer place for your passing. I salute you, Jack, from one old soldier to another.
Joanne McGahagan - I will always remember that Congressman Murtha changed the tone in Washington about the Iraq war. For that and his support of Johnstown, I shall always be grateful. May his memory be eternal!
Karen Gatto - A patriot and politician who never forgot the people who put him in office. His shoes can never be filled. RIP Jack.
Nancy Sauers - Thank you for your support of the DoD Breast Cancer Research Program, which has advanced the knowledge about, and treatment of, breast cancer.
