PA Dems BlogFour Hours To GoPosted by Daren on November 4, 2008 - 4:09pm. A lot of you are probably getting off work within the next hour and the one thing I always try to keep in mind from playing sports in my younger days is that until the final minute you have to play like you are 10 points down. If you haven't voted, you have four hours to get to your poll. If you have already voted, call some of your friends and/or family and make sure they get out to vote as well. Don't worry about what you are hearing as far as turnout or any exit polls that may be floating around. Remember in 2004 when the early exit poll reports made it sound as if John Kerry had it in the bag? And then remember how everyone was then left scratching their heads when President Bush won re-election? I won't get into the weeds with all the theories as to why those exit polls came out the way they did. I will save that for another post. The only other thing I will recommend is that we not take any chances. So fight in these last four hours like we are 10 points down and do everything you can to make sure everyone gets to the polls. Later tonight we we will have two widgets up on the home page so you can follow the national and Pennsylvanis results map so be sure to come back later if you are not at an election night party. UPDATE Protect Your Vote: 866-5-PA-OBAMAPosted by Daren on November 4, 2008 - 12:02pm. UPDATE - The toll free number and the redirect line seem to be having issues, so please use the main number fo the PA Democratic Party HQ at 717-920-8470. Like many political junkies, I have been awake throughout the night and into this morning. It was great to see the Steelers win on Monday Night Football and then watch the results of the first polling places in Dixville Notch and Harts Location in New Hampshire. Both places went for Senator Obama, 15-7 and 17-10 respectively. That may not seem like a lot of votes, but it is a good sign for Senator Obama since I remember that both places have more registered Republicans than Democrats. And now we are into the Election Day in Pennsylvania and the polls here have been open for five hours and will close at 8 PM. Again, as a political junkie I have been paying attention to reports from around the nation on any problems voters may be having at their polling places. There have been a few minor problems but nothing serious. But for Pennsylvanian's, we want to be vigilant throughout the day. If you or anyone you know who witnesses any problems anywhere in the state, please report it by calling 866-5-PA-OBAMA. It doesn't matter where you live in Pennsylvania because we have a team of people who will help resolve the situation. This election is far too important to permit anyone to be denied their right to vote so again, if you see a problem call 866-5-PA-OBAMA. Contact Victor for VictoryPosted by Daren on November 3, 2008 - 11:58am. Earlier today we put out and email to all our supporters asking them to do just two more things to help ensure a victory tomorrow. Besides voting, we are asking folks to get in touch with us and we'll provide them with a list of 10 newly registered Democrats that they can call and not only remind them to vote for the Obama/Biden ticket, but for all their Democrats on the ballot. Victor, one of the dedicated staffers at the Democratic Party H.Q. tells me that since sent out that email we have received dozens of requests for a list of voters. Since Victor is in charge of making sure everyone receives their list, I am calling this the Contact Victor for Victory campaign. So if there is only two things you have time to do before the polls close tomorrow at 8 PM, please make sure you vote and get in touch with Victor so he can provide you with a list of new voters that live nearby. Neighbors talking to neighbors is a very powerful thing and you'd be surprised at the impact that picking up the phone and asking someone that lives in your town to vote has. Don't stop at the top and please don't stop doing all you can until the polls close tomorrow evening. Thanks. It's Up To Us NowPosted by Daren on November 2, 2008 - 3:04pm. Back on August 31, shortly after Senator McCain had chosen Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, I wrote a piece about how this, as well as the choice of Joe Biden as Senator Obama's running mate was going to prove that this race was going come down to Pennsylvania. But when I wrote that, I didn't know how much it would actually come to be realized. Pennsylvania has become the McCain/Palin tickets last stand and because of how well Democratic Party volunteers have done throughout this election, it has allowed the Obama/Biden ticket to not only expand their map, but put our entire ticket of Democrats in a good position to win. "Don't stop at the top" as Governor Rendell and the rest of the state party staff likes to say. But because at the national stage Democrats are seeing opportunities for pick-ups and McCain/Palin are putting all their eggs into one basket, it leaves winning Pennsylvania up to all of us in these last couple days. From what I am hearing, yesterday there were 25,000 volunteers out knocking doors across our Commonwealth, talking to voters about the Obama/Biden ticket as well as their local candidates. So if you were out on the street yesterday or today, or you will be volunteering tomorrow and/or on Election Day, let us know what you were up to. Share your story with others because it really is up to us to win Pennsylvania. Senator Obama has always said from the day he announced his candidacy that his campaign was not about him, it was about all of us. Let's show him how right he is. American Stories, American SolutionsPosted by Daren on October 29, 2008 - 10:39pm. In case you missed it . . . Last Debate Open ThreadPosted by Daren on October 15, 2008 - 7:53pm. It's go time again. Lots of Pennsylvanians are probably watching the Phillies, but for the die hard political junkies, we'll have the second t.v. on with the debate and will turn the volume down on game. So let us know what you think during the debate and post debate analysis. Have at it. Text Out The VotePosted by Daren on October 15, 2008 - 4:41pm. With so many people these days using only some version of a mobile phone to stay connected with the rest of the world, traditional phone banking on Election Day alone doesn't cut it anymore for Get Out The Vote calls. This is why we are bringing you TOTV - - Text Out The Vote. This new tool is easy to use and allows you to set and send text message reminders to your friends and family that they will receive on November 4. There are some pre-loaded reminder messages in case you can't think of anything you'd like to say, or you can create your own unique message. It is entirely up to you. For example in my message to all my friends I told them I would make fun of them for at least one year if they didn't go vote for all the Democrats. We've come a long way so remember, Text Out The Vote. "He is not the McCain I endorsed."Posted by Daren on October 10, 2008 - 3:11pm. Today, former Republican Governor of Michigan, William Milliken expressed his concerns over the type of person John McCain has become during his presidential bid. Gov. Milliken was quoted as saying that "(h)e is not the McCain I endorsed." Gov. Milliken went on to say that "I am disappointed in the tenor and personal attacks on the part of the McCain campaign, when he ought to be talking about issues." Every day that passes, Sen. McCain's strategy becomes more entrenched in the art of self-destruction. "That one" shouldn't surprise anyone.Posted by Daren on October 8, 2008 - 12:04pm. There has been a lot of chatter both on the blogs and MSM about John McCain's flippant remark of "that one" in last night's debate. And some are up-in-arms about it but it really should not surprise any"one." This is the same campaign that put out the arrogant video about Senator Obama and referred to him as "The One." What is quite amusing is that in the ad, the voiceover delivers a line that we will "call him the one." Well as sure as each of these last days in this campaign are long, John McCain went and did just that one national television. The folks over at camp McCain have taken one of the nation's most distinguished careers and turned their guy into one of the most discombobulated candidates.
