PA Dems: Building Blue

A VERY SUPER, DUPER TUESDAY, INDEED!

Super (Duper) Tuesday. Mardi Gras. Two exceptional days combined into one yesterday, as Democrats from across the commonwealth gathered at the Quarter on Harrisburg's 2nd Street. The PA Dems clearly outdid themselves last night, working in conjunction with generous sponsors to make a night of good old-fashioned political fun. A lively group of attendees, including Young Democrats, College Democrats, elected officials and labor leaders mixed and mingled as we spent the evening watching one of the most exciting primary days in our lifetime develop. We enjoyed Hurricanes and some delicious Mardi Gras food as a skilled few updated the delegate count and vote totals on our PA Democrats Super Tuesday scorecard, which was updated in real time online.

Last night we waited with bated breath as the largest presidential primary day in U.S. history unfolded before our eyes. As the night progressed and the numbers came in, we learned that the two formidable candidates were still neck and neck. Thus, one certainty came out of Super Tuesday: we've got a race on our hands! This primary season could very well culminate in a Keystone State showdown, as Senators Obama and Clinton vie for every last delegate. Frankly, I could not be more excited. This is an amazing time to be young and involved in politics. Last night showed just how powerful each and every vote is and how just a few votes one way or the other could greatly change the course of our country.

Surely only time and votes will tell just what will happen in the coming months. But one thing I can safely say right now is that Chairman Rooney, Mary Isenhour and the PA Dems team put together one Super Duper party last night. Thanks to them for all of their hard work and dedication to electing a Democrat in 2008!
