Pixie Stix and PrimariesPosted by Chairman on February 12, 2008 - 10:38am. So we learned a few things at our great Super-Fat Tuesday Party. First, we learned that Hurricanes and beads don’t mix. Second, we learned I should watch how loud I talk when the Pennsyltucky Politics crew is around. But third, and most important, we learned there is still no prohibitive nominee for the Democratic presidential nomination. You know what that means… The excitement is coming to Pennsylvania, ladies and gentlemen. And we’re going to show New Hampshire and Massachusetts and Illinois and all the rest of them how a primary works in the Keystone State. Remember pixie stix? The straws full of sugar that made you hyper as a kid? Well the Pennsylvania Democratic Primary is going to be Iowa on a Liberty Bell full of pixie stix. But we need your help and support to show what we can really do. We’ll give you the tools. Our new slogan at the PA Democratic Party is Building Blue. We’ve turned PA from purple to blue – now we’re building it into a blue stronghold. Over the next few weeks you’ll see changes to our website. We’re going to offer you new tools and programs. We’re going to spotlight volunteers and neighborhood leaders who go the extra mile. And we’re going to build up to the biggest primary election this country has seen in a very long time. But we need you to do your part too. I’m making sure that Chairman Rooney is doing his part. I’m harassing him day and night to contribute money, call other people who will contribute money and write down lists of even more people who will contribute money. I’m also harassing him because it’s fun – but don’t tell him I said that. But even a guy like Chairman Rooney can’t do it all himself. So now I need to ask you to help. Visit our contribution page here at PADems.com and invest $10 or $25 or $50 or more. Then sign up for the PADems MasterCard so that every time you buy groceries or a new shirt or a nice dinner on Valentine’s Day -- you’re also contributing to the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. Just think pixie stix folks….lots and lots of pixie stix so we can show the nation what the PA Dems are all about. -- Mary Isenhour |

I am a native of PA, now living in Maryland. I am writing about the comments of Gov. Rendell about Barack Obama and race. Yes, I read, he added as an afterthought, Hillary Clinton's gender would be a barrier too. These comments are subtle racism. In 1964, the Southerners added gender to the 1964 Civil Rights Act to try to defeat its passage. The comments of Gov. Rendell are eactly the same subtle racist tactic.
The party needs to condemn these types of attacks, no matter who says them, and it needs to do so today. We need to move forward and stop these kinds of actions
