Established in 2011 in memory of Pennsylvania’s first and only woman statewide elected official, the Catherine Baker Knoll Scholarship is awarded annually to women pursuing an undergraduate or master's degree and is committed to a future in public service.
The scholarship is supported by the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee and the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee Women’s Caucus. These organizations provide funds to award one scholarship of $1,000 to a student who is actively pursuing a leadership role in public service, community organizing, politics, government or education. The Catherine Baker KnollScholarship is awarded annually and may be used for tuition, books or living expenses at any college or university in Pennsylvania.
Women pursuing a public service related degree who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field are eligible. Online students are also eligible.
The application process consists of the application form (including resume), two letters of recommendation, which are to be mailed directly from the recommenders, and an official transcript, to be sent from the registrar' office.

Applications must be completed and presented all required information to the PA Democratic Party Headquarters by Friday, May 25th, 2012. A recipient will be selected by a committee, and the award will be presented at the Pennsylvania Democratic Party State Committee meeting on Saturday, June 9th, 2012.
The Catherine Baker Knoll Scholarship is made possible through investment income generated by the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee and the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee Women’s Caucus.
