DIGITAL & CREATIVE

Pittsburgh, PA and Philadelphia, PA

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party (PADems) is looking for a highly motivated and hard-working students to begin immediately as digital and creative interns at our Philadelphia and Pittsburgh offices.

The Digital Department is responsible for managing the organization’s online organizing efforts, including advocacy and fundraising programs. Interns will work directly under the digital team to maintain and update the PADems.com website, produce content for the organization’s social media platforms, design graphics, and help communicate with the party’s followers and subscribers.

The ideal candidate will have excellent copywriting skills, be able to think quickly on their feet, and come up with creative ideas for content.

We welcome students whose studies have an emphasis in political science, journalism, communications, public policy, computer science, graphic design, and other potentially relevant fields. No political experience is required. We offer a flexible schedule and applicable credit for interns whenever possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES/OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Assisting the digital team with writing copy and producing content for state party emails, website, and social media posts
  • Researching current events and pop culture
  • Social media monitoring, tracking, and analyzing
  • Working with the digital team to experiment with different digital platforms and mediums

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with social media platforms
  • Ideally proficient with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Video and photography capturing and editing skills are a plus
  • Have a passion for politics and pop culture
  • Have a firm grasp of today’s traditional and social media environments
  • Enjoy working closely with others of diverse backgrounds
  • Work well under pressure and on deadline.
  • Have a great sense of humor and creative personality
  • Knowledge of content management systems like WordPress
  • Development skills or a passion for doing cool things with code

 

DATA

Pittsburgh, PA

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party (PDP) is looking for a highly motivated and hard-working individual to begin immediately as a data intern at our Western PA office in Pittsburgh. Interested students are encouraged to apply online as soon as possible at padems.com/internships.

With highly competitive races, our interns have a unique opportunity to not just gain firsthand exposure to Pennsylvania politics, but they get to a play a part in the party’s efforts to elect Democrats to office across the commonwealth.

Data interns will be introduced to a variety of skill areas, including VAN administration, voter targeting, and writing SQL. Interns will be trained directly by the PDP’s Data Director. Interns will leave the program with a diverse set of experiences, exhibiting a focus on skill development and application that is relevant to a wide variety of workplaces in addition to political, non-profit and advocacy organizations.

We welcome students whose studies have an emphasis in political science, economics, math, sociology, computer science, statistics, and other potentially relevant fields. No political experience is required. We offer a flexible schedule and applicable credit for interns whenever possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES/OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Work directly with PA Dems staff, candidates, and other party leaders to achieve voter engagement vital to electing Democrats across the state.
  • Conduct research on prospective voters and donors, learning about new methods and resources for the purposes of strategic data collection.
  • Train members, manage, and further develop the PA Dems’ Voter Activation Network.
  • Assist with targeting efforts for candidates and local Democratic organizations.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enthusiasm for experiencing a data-driven approach to voter activation.
  • A basic understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with high-level Democratic officials, candidates, staff, and donors. Confidentiality and discretion are important.

 

PARTY AND OPERATIONS

Pittsburgh, PA and Philadelphia, PA

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party (PDP) is looking for a highly motivated and hard-working individual to begin immediately as a political operations and party services intern at our Harrisburg office. Interested students are encouraged to apply online as soon as possible at padems.com/internships.

With highly competitive races, our interns have a unique opportunity to not just gain firsthand exposure to Pennsylvania politics, but they get to a play a part in the Party’s efforts to elect Democrats to office across the commonwealth.

Interns will work primarily with PDP’s Operations Director, campaign employees and/or the state party chair to maintain party services and PDP’s relationships with local party organizations, elected officials and campaigns. Intern activities are diverse in nature and intended to create a well-rounded experience that will include administrative duties, networking, research and more.

We welcome students whose studies have an emphasis in political science, social work, public policy, communications and other potentially relevant fields. No political experience is required. We offer a flexible schedule and applicable credit for interns whenever possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES/OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Complete projects assigned by the Operations Director
  • Help maintain party records
  • Assist in coordinated efforts with candidates and their campaigns, in addition to local Democratic Party committee organizations.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent writing and multitasking skills required.
  • Basic knowledge of Word, Adobe and Excel
  • Enthusiasm for engaging with and learning about the political process in Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and deadlines.
  • Personal laptop preferred.
  • Comfortable working with high-level Democratic officials, candidates, staff and donors. Confidentiality and discretion are important
