PA Dems: Building Blue

Charging hard into the final lap...

Friends, the time has come. We're one week away from the Pennsylvania primary. And I think it's safe to say that this will be a busy week.

It starts tomorrow night with the presidential debate at The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. If you're planning to take advantage of your last chance to see Senators Clinton and Obama go head-to-head before you cast your vote, make sure you join us on the PADems.com message board. We'll be watching the debate and discussing it online. This was a tremendous success back in October, and we're expecting a big crowd on the message board again.

Then, get ready for six days of outreach from every presidential, congressional and state legislative candidate out there. This is it folks, the final lap of the primary season.

Knowing that you'll be hearing and talking a lot about politics, we here at the Party wanted to provide you a little oasis from the noise. So this week's online poll doesn't ask you anything political. Take our poll and let us know if we have more Pirates fans or Phillies fans. And is the Keystone State home to pick-up truck drivers or sports car drivers?

And next Tuesday, the big day, be sure to visit PADems.com for all your election day needs. We'll tell you where your polling place is, how to find your candidate's website and all kinds of other information. And Tuesday night, after the polls close, we'll be reporting results on our homepage.

According to the media and pundits, the Pennsylvania primary is going to be a milestone in this year's primary season. Make sure you take part!

I've struggled with Obama's campaign spin-pros to face up to the question I had thrown at me hundeds of times by Democrats and Republicans IN THE NORTHEAST when I advocated for Obama as the "Prince of Change": DO YOU WANT A NIG-ER IN THE WHITE HOUSE?" It was a devastating question that left me dumbfounded. But Divine Providence gave me an inspiration. I asked: Whom did you want for President in 1998 (for 2000)? And you know what MOST said? "Colin Powell"!

I can't claim surprise. I'm an East Euro and knew a lot of Jew-haters....but they all cheered and rooted for the Israelis-- fellow East Euros who made good. Racism is a symptom, not a disease. I come from Europe that is divided into 90 RACES-- not nationalities, but RACES! That kind of thinking was used to justify slavery; but slavery is not animal husbandry, it is full awareness that that guy in chains is a person like you. I know of a lot of Old South racists who willed their entire fortune to their "nig-er" offsprings because, in their last moment in life, these were their human blood line.

Today's racism, coming from many Dems who cheered LBJ on civil rights, is symptom of fear initiated by 9/11. The fear of impotence watching the buildings go down wasn't one you could treat with Viagra. Many knew fear in Vietnam's jungles, but all those I remember felt reasured by their black buddies covering their backs. At that time then we didn't feel like we were losing. When we did lose we couldn't recover until we saw in the Gulf War a black soldier playing "America the Beautiful" on his sax in 1991; it wiped their Vietnam impotence away and Powell was the President they all demanded. 9/11 broke them again, made them feel old and impotent again. Karl Rove worked their fear and made it fester, much as the Republicans will now (with McCain hypocritically tsk-tsk-ing it all). "Nig-er" is bravura, not racism. We who see Obama as America's only hope must make the case that on 9/11 we were not beat. We stupidly left the pilot cabin's door open on every airliner for three decades and alQaeda saw how dumb we were. But now we are smart, they are losing the minds of Muslims and Osama is dead. Once the fear is gone, the courage of Obama to step in where Powell dared not thread will be fully appreciated. This is not a racist country-- crazy old boomers maybe-- but not a racist country, anymore. Good door-to-door grassroots work will prove that very fast, and that's what I'm doing so the "nig-er" JFK, Obama, can save my America by changing its Rovian state of fear.
