PA Dems: Building Blue

UPDATE Protect Your Vote: 866-5-PA-OBAMA

UPDATE - The toll free number and the redirect line seem to be having issues, so please use the main number fo the PA Democratic Party HQ at 717-920-8470.

Like many political junkies, I have been awake throughout the night and into this morning. It was great to see the Steelers win on Monday Night Football and then watch the results of the first polling places in Dixville Notch and Harts Location in New Hampshire. Both places went for Senator Obama, 15-7 and 17-10 respectively. That may not seem like a lot of votes, but it is a good sign for Senator Obama since I remember that both places have more registered Republicans than Democrats.

And now we are into the Election Day in Pennsylvania and the polls here have been open for five hours and will close at 8 PM. Again, as a political junkie I have been paying attention to reports from around the nation on any problems voters may be having at their polling places. There have been a few minor problems but nothing serious. But for Pennsylvanian's, we want to be vigilant throughout the day. If you or anyone you know who witnesses any problems anywhere in the state, please report it by calling 866-5-PA-OBAMA.

It doesn't matter where you live in Pennsylvania because we have a team of people who will help resolve the situation. This election is far too important to permit anyone to be denied their right to vote so again, if you see a problem call 866-5-PA-OBAMA.

Carol - Thanks for your post. Campaign poll workers handing out literature outside of a polling place is widely accepted. Both parties do it across the state. As long as no one is then handing that same literature to another voter inside the polling place, it is considered to be fine.

As for the phone number, I have tried it as well and it seems to continue with a busy signal. For all those who may need to report an issue in PA, please use the State Democratic Party Headquarters main number and they will direct your issue to the appropriate person in your county. That number is: 717- 920- 8470.

I voted early in Hampden Twp in Camp Hill, PA and there were Republican campaingers handing everyone McCain Literature before we went in the door to vote. It was posted all over the walls that no campaign buttons or literature was to go into the room where the voting machines were set up, but people were reading the literature the whole time, and no one stopped them.
I tried calling the 1-877 number Barack Obama campaign provided in Pa, to tell someone what was going on, but the number just rings and rings. I called the 1-866-5-PA OBAMA to tell someone, and I get a recorded message telling me there is a new national number (it is 101515800) and it costs $5.00 a minute which I can't afford.
So no alerts.
Could anyone remotely connected to the PA Democratic party mention this during campaign coverage tonight?
Thanks,
Carol
