Our History

Thanks to the hard work of its leaders and grassroots support, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party is no stranger to making history:

In the past few decades, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party has transformed a once-red state into one of the biggest battlegrounds in the country. From 1992 on, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has awarded all of its electoral votes to the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is proud to have supported great two-term Democratic governors such as Bob Casey, Sr., and Ed Rendell. In 2014, Democrats in Pennsylvania made history by electing Tom Wolf, the first challenger to defeat a sitting Governor.

Today, Democrats hold all five state-wide offices; and after a history-making sweep of all three open Supreme Court seats in November 2015, Democrats have a 5-2 majority in the State Supreme Court. That’s not all — Democrats control county and municipal offices in the four largest counties in the Commonwealth.

We’re ready to make history again with the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this summer. And we’re ready to elect Democrats from the top of the ticket on down in November. Are you with us?
