Our History

Thanks to the hard work of its leaders and grassroots support, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party is no stranger to making history:

In the past few decades, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party has transformed a once-red state into one of the biggest battlegrounds in the country.

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is proud to have supported great two-term Democratic governors such as Bob Casey, Sr., and Ed Rendell. In 2014, Democrats in Pennsylvania made history by electing Tom Wolf, the first challenger to defeat a sitting Governor.

Today, Democrats hold all five statewide offices; and after a history-making sweep of all three open Supreme Court seats in November 2015, Democrats have a 5-2 majority in the State Supreme Court. That’s not all — Democrats control county and municipal offices in the four largest counties in the Commonwealth.

In 2018, Pennsylvania Democrats had a historic year that started with Rep. Conor Lamb’s remarkable special election victory in a district that Donald Trump won by 20 points. That November, Governor Wolf won with the most votes of any Pennsylvania governor. Senator Casey was the first Democratic senator to be elected to a third term. We had a fair map that allowed us to compete in every district and we are sending nine congresspeople to DC — four of whom are women, a record for Pennsylvania. We also flipped 5 seats in the state senate and 14 in the state house — the biggest gains in the legislature for PA Democrats since Watergate.

And we are just getting started.

We’re ready to elect Democrats from the top of the ticket on down in November. Are you with us?
