***Special Message for Allegheny County***

This afternoon, Judge Joseph James of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas ordered that the deadline for receiving absentee ballots would be extended from this Friday to Election Day in response to the interruptions in postal service throughout the Northeastern United States due to Hurricane Sandy. Recognizing that a significant number of Allegheny County absentee voters, including college students, reside in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy, the Judge ruled that such ballots will count if received by Election Day. Voters are urged to return their absentee ballots as soon as possible.
