The Pennsylvania Democratic Party has nominated Susan Boser as the Democratic Party’s candidate for the special election in the 41st Senate District which will be held on May 21, 2019.
State Party Chairwoman Nancy Patton Mills released the following statement:
“Democrats cannot win seats when we don’t compete, so I am proud to have Susan Boser run as our Democratic candidate for the special election for Senate District 41. The people of Armstrong, Butler, Indiana, and Westmoreland counties deserve to have a senator who will work on their behalf, and Susan will do just that. We cannot hope to move Pennsylvania forward when there are Republicans in the State Senate who are satisfied by the status quo, so we will work tirelessly to win this seat on May 21st.”
Susan Boser cares deeply about the rural way of life. She has seen large employers leave the area, people unable to earn a good wage without working multiple jobs, and farmers and small business owners losing the livelihood passed down for generations. Susan has studied how effective policy and government might make a difference and has advocated for, and got, state legislation passed to implement policies that will help rural workers and families. She is now a professor at IUP, teaching and continuing her research on how local government can combat social problems. She has also volunteered with the Indiana County Sustainable Economic Development Task Force, serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Guidance Center, and serves on the Steering Committee for the Local Food Local Places project of Indiana County. Susan will take her passion and commitment to Harrisburg and work to solve the problems with a willingness to listen and work together.
The Pennsylvania Democratic Party, in conjunction with the Armstrong, Butler, Indiana, and Westmoreland Democratic committees, held the convention to recommend a state senatorial candidate for the 41st District to the Pennsylvania Democratic Executive Committee. The Party’s Executive Committee then voted to nominate Boser as the candidate.
