PENNSYLVANIA – Earlier this week, Senator Daniel Laughlin joined his Harrisburg Republican colleagues to vote down a measure that would protect struggling Pennsylvanians from evictions and foreclosures.
At question was a Democratic amendment to SB 976 that would freeze evictions and foreclosures in a county for 60 days after it moves to the “yellow” phase outlined in the Governor’s guidelines. Laughlin voted against the amendment, which failed on a party line vote.
“We are dealing with an unprecedented crisis and people are hurting — through no fault of their own,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesman Brendan Welch. “It’s more important than ever that our representatives in Harrisburg work for the people. While Democrats are working to provide relief to struggling families, Harrisburg Republicans like Daniel Laughlin continue to put special interests first. That’s why he must be replaced in November.”
