PENNSYLVANIA — Last night, Senator John DiSanto held an in-person, indoor fundraiser in the middle of the biggest pandemic in over a century. His campaign literature advertising the event made no mention of adhering to PA Department of Health guidelines. The advertisement made no reference to social distancing or wearing a mask, and there was no stated attendee limit.

Since the pandemic began, Senator DiSanto has repeatedly appeared in public without a mask and even recently spoke at a rally against COVID-19 mitigation efforts. Senator DiSanto previously voted at the height of the coronavirus surge to reopen industries in which he has a financial interest — including real estate construction and golf courses.

“John DiSanto’s reckless self-dealing and anti-science dogma must stop,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesman Brendan Welch. “We all want to get back to normal, but we can’t ignore health guidelines for political purposes. We are in the midst of the greatest public health crisis in generations. Candidates and elected representatives have a responsibility to keep their communities safe from COVID-19 and take the threat of the virus seriously. DiSanto continues to downplay the threat to our public health in the interest of his re-election as well as for his own financial gain. It’s time for him to treat the virus with the severity it deserves.”
