AHEAD OF THIRD GOP PA-GOV DEBATE, PENNSYLVANIANS HAVE SOME QUESTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES

PENNSYLVANIA — While the crowded field of far-right candidates has already duked it out twice on the debate stage, the only thing they’ve made clear is their unwavering support for extreme and unpopular policies, just to please the MAGA base. The candidates have spent the majority of their time pledging to implement new voting restrictions, support abortion bans, and continue Trump’s election lies — leaving Pennsylvanians with many questions about their plans to tackle the real issues.

Lou Barletta, Jake Corman, and Doug Mastriano haven’t even shown up because apparently they don’t think Pennsylvanians deserve to hear from them.

“Regardless of who shows up to the latest far-right fight night, Pennsylvanians will see more of the same — a focus on an out-of-touch agenda instead of the issues that matter most to Pennsylvania families,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa Nahem. “While some of the MAGA wannabes refuse to even show up, all GOP candidates need to answer some basic questions about their stances. Once again, the GOP candidates are making clear that if your last name isn’t ‘Trump,’ they don’t care what you think — and if you aren’t the MAGA base, they’ll never put you first.”

Ahead of the third GOP debate, every “Super MAGA” primary candidate should answer the following questions:

  • While the far-right gubernatorial candidates have refused to support the bipartisan infrastructure law signed by President Biden that will create tens of thousands of jobs, and historic and much needed investments for the Commonwealth — why don’t they think this is a necessary investment in communities?
  • Recently, the PAGOP Chair stated to The Washington Post that President Biden “won the election” — so, after months of peddling Trump’s Big Lie, do the GOP candidates agree with the PAGOP that President “Biden won the election?”
  • The leading candidates in this crowded far-right primary have all expressed their eagerness to sign a restrictive abortion ban. Why do they support an extreme anti-choice agenda despite a majority of Americans opposing a Texas-style abortion ban and supporting the Supreme Court upholding Roe v. Wade?
  • Jake Corman, Scott Martin, and Doug Mastriano all voted for Act 77, which allowed no-excuse vote-by-mail in Pennsylvania, but now they want to repeal it. Isn’t that hypocritical?
  • The leading candidates in the crowded GOP PA-Gov primary have committed to an extreme anti-worker agenda, so do they support making Pennsylvania a right-to-work state?
