BILL MCSWAIN SHOULD STOP DODGING QUESTIONS AS HE PREPARES TO LAUNCH HIS GUBERNATORIAL CAMPAIGN

McSwain has repeatedly dodged tough questions. As he prepares to enter the “super MAGA” primary, Pennsylvanians deserve some answers.

PENNSYLVANIA — Bill McSwain has been “exploring” a run for Governor for months, but throughout the spring and summer, he has repeatedly avoided answering tough questions. Now that it sounds like he will announce his campaign this week, it’s time for McSwain to stop ducking questions and start giving Pennsylvanians some answers.

On Tuesday, August 24th, McSwain told conservative radio host Dom Giordano that he will have “a little preview” of his announcement on the “day after Labor Day” because “it’s starting to be put up or shut up time.” But Pennsylvanians know surprisingly little about what McSwain stands for, or what he will do as Governor — other than his penchant for using taxpayer money or lying to boost his political profile.

McSwain has a lot of questions to answer, but he should start with these:

  • Does Bill McSwain believe the election was stolen from Donald Trump?
  • Why did Bill McSwain try to fool Donald Trump and Pennsylvanians with his deceitful letter asking for Trump’s endorsement? Was Bill Barr lying when he said McSwain’s letter was “just false?”
  • Does Bill McSwain support Harrisburg Republicans’ taxpayer-funded audit of the 2020 election?
  • Would Bill McSwain sign a Texas-style abortion ban if he was Governor?

As he has prepared to announce his campaign, Bill McSwain has been widely criticized for his record of putting his political ambitions ahead of Pennsylvanians. As Trump’s U.S. Attorney, McSwain used more than $75,000 in taxpayer funds to put up billboards promoting himself and he became a frequent guest on FOX News. More recently, McSwain has resorted to “predatory” and “unethical” fundraising tactics, mimicking the Trump campaign. In the final run-up to his announcement, McSwain sent a desperate letter asking for Trump’s endorsement, which blew up in his face when Bill Barr said McSwain’s letter was “just false” and it became clear he was trying to pull a fast one.

“Bill McSwain has had a rough summer, and everytime someone challenges his shady behavior, he runs for cover,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesman Brendan Welch. “It’s put up or shut up time for Bill McSwain — he’s repeatedly dodged questions about the 2020 election and his plans for Pennsylvania, but as he prepares to announce his campaign, it’s time for some answers.”
