COWARDLY GOP CANDIDATES FOR GOVERNOR CONTINUE HIDING FROM PENNSYLVANIANS — OUTLINE THEIR TERMS FOR DEBATES: “NO MEAN QUESTIONS”

Lou Barletta, Jake Corman, Bill McSwain, and Dave White are apparently trying to dictate the terms under which Pennsylvanians get to hear from them — and they’re putting Pennsylvanians and media on notice.

PENNSYLVANIA — As reported by PoliticsPA, Lou Barletta, Jake Corman, Bill McSwain, and Dave White have decided Pennsylvanians won’t get to hear from them unless it’s on their terms — once again making crystal clear to Pennsylvanians that if you aren’t Trump, insurrectionists or MAGA extremists, they don’t care about you. This criteria put forth by GOP candidates requires that moderators be “registered Republicans” and they cannot ask “questions with answers shorter than 30 seconds.”

In other words, the GOP candidates will only answer the questions they want to answer from the people they want to hear from — and they want: “No mean questions.”

Lou Barletta and Jake Corman have skipped debates, Bill McSwain dodges questions any chance he gets, and Dave White has been embarrassingly called out for his attempts to mislead Pennsylvanians about his long record as a career politician. With their latest stunt one thing’s clearer than ever: the far-right candidates for Governor are scared to answer to their record of going all-in on Trump and the MAGA base — and even fellow GOP candidate Charlie Gerow is calling them out for it, “Unlike some other Republican candidates running for governor, I’m not afraid to debate.”

“Despite the ‘Trump Primary’ candidates’ cowardly calls for ‘no mean questions,’ Pennsylvanians deserve better than extreme and out-of-touch politicians too scared to answer basic questions,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa Nahem. “Being unwilling to answer questions from Pennsylvanians should be disqualifying for any candidate fighting to become the next Governor. Service to this Commonwealth includes speaking to your vision and agenda, and it’s clear Lou Barletta, Jake Corman, Bill McSwain, and Dave White are too afraid to own theirs.”

While Barletta, Corman, McSwain, and White cowardly refuse to speak to hardworking Pennsylvanians, here are a few of the questions they apparently can’t be bothered to answer:

  • Would the GOP candidates for Governor reverse the state’s Medicaid expansion which provided coverage to more than 900,000 Pennsylvanians?
  • Do the GOP candidates for Governor believe Joe Biden is the legitimately elected President — and that he freely and fairly won Pennsylvania?
  • Do the GOP candidates for Governor support devastating right-to-work legislation which would lower wages and could create less safe working conditions for PA workers?
  • Why do the GOP candidates for Governor oppose President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which will help rebuild our roads and bridges, invest in small businesses, and grow communities across the Commonwealth?
  • Would the GOP candidates for Governor sign a Texas-style abortion ban, effectively outlawing abortion in the Commonwealth?
