Trump gives Doug Mastriano his long-awaited MAGA stamp of approval in the GOP PA-Gov race, after Mastriano became the clear choice of his far-right base.
PENNSYLVANIA — Today, Donald Trump endorsed Doug Mastriano, who has clearly demonstrated that he is the most extreme candidate in the “Trump primary.” In response to Trump’s endorsement of Doug Mastriano, Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa Nahem issued the following statement:
“Doug Mastriano is the most extreme and dangerous Republican candidate for Governor and everyone knows it — including Donald Trump, who was forced to bow to the fringes of his party once it became clear Mastriano would be their nominee. It’s clear that in this case Donald Trump is the caboose not the engine. Trump has emboldened the most extreme and dangerous elements in the Republican Party, and he did that once again by endorsing Mastriano, who crossed police lines on January 6th and participated in the insurrection, led the push for a sham ‘audit’ in Pennsylvania, and wants to completely ban abortion without exceptions.
“Mastriano is incredibly dangerous and the Pennsylvania Democratic Party will do all it can to ensure he doesn’t get anywhere near the Governor’s office.”
