GOP PA-GOV FRONTRUNNER DOUG MASTRIANO FAILS TO APPEAR FOR DEPOSITION IN FRONT OF THE JAN. 6 COMMITTEE

PENNSYLVANIA — State Sen. and GOP gubernatorial primary frontrunner Doug Mastriano was due to appear for a deposition today in front of the Jan. 6 Committee investigating the insurrection and Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, but it appears he failed to appear. In response, Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa Nahem issued the following statement:

“Doug Mastriano has done more to push the Big Lie than any other far-right candidate in the ‘Trump primary,’ and now he’s once again putting the MAGA base above the law — ignoring a bipartisan Congressional subpoena that would require him to testify to his efforts to help Trump undermine our democracy. Pennsylvanians deserve a Governor who actually respects our democracy and the rule of law, and it’s clear Doug Mastriano will do neither.

“While GOP primary frontrunner Doug Mastriano is the first candidate for Governor in Pennsylvania to receive a subpoena for his role in the insurrection, he might not be the last — and no matter who wins the Republican nominee for Governor, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party will do everything it can to ensure that Trump’s cronies aren’t allowed anywhere near the Governor’s office.”
