In disaster scenario for GOP, Bartos and Sands demonstrate they are ready to drag this race out to the very end
PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania GOP’s “trainwreck” Senate primary continues to live up to its name as the field makes it clear that the flawed and well-funded candidates will drag this primary out to the bitter end.
- A Jeff Bartos-supporting Super PAC, which is currently running a six-figure ad campaign against Sean Parnell, announced a $1.5M “commitment” from former Bartos running mate and 2018 big loser Scott Wagner. The PAC has raised $2.4 million to spend on nasty attack ads to bring down Parnell and the rest of the packed GOP field.
- Trump mega-donor Carla Sands, who has already put $3M into her campaign, joined the Ruthless podcast where she bragged about being the candidate with the best funding and took a shot at the failed candidates that make up the rest of the field:
“So you can see that my campaign manager actually says this is a primary in name only. And that’s because all of my credible Republican opponents lost their last race and they lost badly, all of them.”
It’s become clear that any hopes the Parnell campaign had of the Trump endorsement leading to a smooth primary are gone, as the endorsement has only made a nasty primary even nastier. No matter who wins, it’s clear that this is going to be one of the messiest primaries in the country.
