HIGHLIGHTS: PA DEMS, REP. PATTY KIM, SMALL BUSINESS OWNER & LOCAL MOTHER WITH PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS CONTINUE “BROKEN PROMISES TOUR” AS TRUMP HEADS TO HARRISBURG

PENNSYLVANIA — Ahead of President Trump’s visit to Middletown Saturday, PA Dems Chair Nancy Patton Mills, Rep. Patty Kim (D-Dauphin), small business owner Dr. Anju Singh and local mother and health care advocate Anna Kruk Corbin held a virtual press conference to discuss how the Trump administration’s economic policies, COVID response, and attacks on health care have left the region’s working families behind.

This event continues the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s “Broken Promises” tour — a statewide series designed to highlight the local impact of President Trump’s failed economic policies.

A recording of the virtual press conference can be found here, and an audio clip is available here. Check out some of the highlights below:

Chair Nancy Patton Mills, Pennsylvania Democratic Party:

“Families in south central Pennsylvania are used to Donald Trump’s broken promises. He promised that he would protect our pre-existing conditions — but the very week after the election, the Supreme Court will hear his argument to dismantle the entire Affordable Care Act….He promised that he would deliver for our manufacturers and for our farmers — but thanks to Trump’s failed, reckless trade war, the manufacturing sector went into a recession and Pennsylvania lost more than 450 dairy farms just last year.”

Rep. Patty Kim (D-Dauphin), PA House of Representatives:

“Donald Trump says the right things to rural America but only delivers to the wealthiest with a generous tax cut. We have 203,000 deaths from a virus we saw coming for months…And the only way to make a change for the better is to vote for Biden-Harris….We know Biden, he is steady, consistent, empathetic and has experience to clean up another economic mess. I hope you will join me in voting and getting others to support Biden and Harris. Now these next couple of months are going to try us like it’s never tried before… I just ask that we stay focused on our core values. We [must] keep pushing for policies that will help support the most vulnerable.”

Dr. Anju Singh (Hummelstown), Small Business Owner:

“Trump [is] saying he’ll make America great again [but] he’s literally taken America and put it on the grate and shredded the economy. We were struggling to survive [as] a small businesses when the economy was good. And he’s totally ruined everything for us. And so as a single mom, I am currently struggling and working four jobs. And in spite of all my education and hard work in everything, I can’t afford health care… How are [working Americans] supposed to survive?..

Biden has already shown in his position as a vice president that he’s capable of resuscitating this economy. And we must trust a person who can actually put the American people above his own selfish interest…Leadership is not about narcissism. Leadership is about selfless duty and service to the community. And that’s what Biden is capable of.”

Anna Kruk Corbin (Hanover), Health Care Advocate & Mother:

“Half of all Pennsylvanians have pre-existing conditions — in our home all four of us do. And that means that if the ACA is dismantled, my entire family could lose our health care. And we are not alone. Families across Pennsylvania and the United States have similar concerns. We depend on the certainty that our children will always have health care coverage.

It is devastating to see our own government attacking that which we depend on the most…No one should be denied health care for having a disability, a chronic illness or pre-existing conditions. Donald Trump violated our trust and he does not deserve a second term. Our lives literally depend on replacing him.”
