ICYMI: PA DEMS HOLD TRUMP ACCOUNTABLE FOR BROKEN PROMISES, TOUR SUPPORT FOR JOE BIDEN AHEAD OF MIDDLETOWN VISIT

As President Trump visited Middletown, elected and community leaders in south central Pennsylvania blasted the Trump administration’s broken promises on the economy and health care: Check out some coverage below.

Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chair Nancy Patton Mills penned an op-ed in PennLive:

PennLive: “Trump came to Pennsylvania repeatedly in the 2016 campaign and insisted he’d bring back our jobs. But four years later, the unemployment rate in the Harrisburg area is two-and-one-half times what it was when he took office. Statewide, nearly 650,000 people are still out of work this month– enough people to fill up Pittsburgh twice and nearly have the entire population of Harrisburg left over.”

Vice President Biden issued a forceful statement on President Trump’s failed COVID-19 response and attacks on the Affordable Care Act:

PennLive: “Ahead of President Donald Trump’s rally in the Harrisburg area Saturday night, Joe Biden is criticizing the president’s leadership and response to the coronavirus pandemic. Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee and former vice president, issued a statement Saturday morning denouncing Trump’s ‘refusal to take strong, swift action’ to combat COVID-19. Biden said Trump has worsened a pandemic that has claimed 200,000 American lives, including more than 8,000 deaths in Pennsylvania.”

And key Democratic leaders held a virtual press conference to discuss the President’s record of broken promises on the economy and on health care:

Fox 43 Online: “Pennsylvania Democrats countered that claim on a virtual call Friday. Party leaders said they were coordinating outreach to minority and rural voters.’We know what we need to do here in Pennsylvania to make sure that Joe Biden is the next president of the United States,’ said Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy Patton Mills. ‘We are not repeating any of the mistakes from 2016.’”

ABC 27 Online: “Meanwhile, Democrats prepared for the visit by discussing what they consider Trump’s broken promises. ‘We have 203,000 deaths from a virus we saw coming for months,’ said state Rep. Patty Kim. ‘America is not great and the only way to make it better is to vote for Biden Harris.’”

CNHI: “Democrats blasted the president for repeatedly holding rallies in defiance of the crowd-size limits. Those limits are not currently in effect in Pennsylvania because a federal judge appointed by Trump ruled the restrictions on gatherings unconstitutionally infringed on First Amendment rights. State Democratic Party Chair Nancy Patton Mills said Trump was setting up a potential ‘superspreader’ COVID-19 outbreak.”
