PA Dems continued the Protect Our Rights Tour in Allentown where speakers called out Doug Mastriano for his dangerous anti-choice agenda, and emphasized what’s at stake for reproductive rights in 2022.

PENNSYLVANIA — On Friday, the PA Democratic Party continued the Protect Our Rights Tour in Allentown, where speakers, including State Rep. Mike Schlossberg, State Rep. Peter Schweyer, and a representative from Allentown City Council President Cynthia Mota’s office called out Republican nominee for Governor, Doug Mastriano, for his extreme anti-choice agenda.

Josh Shapiro will always protect Pennsylvanians’ rights — and has vowed to veto legislation that restricts a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions, but Mastriano is an anti-choice extremist who’s made perfectly clear that his agenda would be devastating for reproductive rights. He not once, but twice sponsored a six-week abortion ban in Harrisburg, and has touted his plans to outlaw abortion with no exceptions — even for rape, incest, or the life of the mother — and wants to criminalize medical professionals for performing abortions if elected Governor.

Speakers at Friday’s event also reiterated that the stakes are too high to sit on the sidelines; Harrisburg Republicans are already pushing at least 18 bills to restrict reproductive healthcare, and Mastriano would be even more dangerous if elected to sign these bills into law. Pennsylvanians across the Commonwealth must get involved, stay engaged, and make sure their friends, neighbors, and fellow community members know that the only way to protect reproductive rights from extreme and out-of-touch Republicans like Mastriano is to elect Josh Shapiro as our next Governor.
