ICYMI: SENATOR MIKE REGAN, ONE OF THIS WEEK’S BIGGEST LOSERS, BUT ALSO JUST GENERALLY

Just Months After Wife Named To Lucrative State Post, And Days After He Pushes To Change Law To Benefit His Brother-In-Law, Regan Now Tries To Change Law He Broke

Harrisburg, PA — Let’s run down State Senator Mike Regan’s last several months because they are a doozy:

This week he pleaded guilty to two offenses related to his motorcycle crash in March including “driving at an unsafe speed.” Regan’s response? He plans to introduce legislation to change the law that he broke:

From City & State Pennsylvania:

Losers: Mike Regan State Sen. Mike Regan pleaded guilty this week to two summary offenses related to his motorcycle crash back in March. With an expired registration, he was caught driving an unregistered vehicle and driving at safe speed, which is a common violation when police can’t determine the speed – but say they were traveling too fast for the road conditions. Regan claims he was not speeding, and plans on introducing legislation to remove that provision from the traffic offense code. Unfortunately for him, changing the rules after the fact won’t take away his charges.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Regan’s efforts to allow the private sale of “canned cocktails” is for family gain. Regan’s brother-in-law, Frank Sourbeer, owns Wilsbach Distributors. Sourbeer co-chaired Regan’s first Senate campaign, hosted a fundraiser for Regan earlier this month, and his business would obviously benefit from canned cocktails.

This comes after it was revealed in March that he pushed for his wife, Fran, to land a lucrative spot on the Gaming Control Board, which comes with a $145,000 annual salary.

And following last year’s election, Regan was filmed at a QAnon/white supremacist rally, where he admitted to working with the Trump campaign to sow dissent into the 2020 election. The result? a terrorist attack on the Capitol in January.

Statement from Brendan Welch, PA Dems Communications Director:

“We’re keeping score for Mike Regan’s constituents, so they don’t have to. Let’s run down the list:

-In November, Regan joined a QAnon rally to spread the ‘Big Lie.’

-In January Regan’s actions helped fuel a terrorist attack on the Capitol.

“Those things are bad enough alone, but we also recently learned:

-In March, Regan’s wife received a plum spot on the Gaming Control Board.

-Earlier in June, it was reported that Regan is pushing for changes to the state’s liquor law to benefit his brother-in-law.

-And this week, Regan said he is trying to change a law that he broke.

“There’s not a lot that is surprising out of Harrisburg, especially self-dealing and self-enrichment, but Mike Regan’s overt and blatant actions to benefit himself take the cake.”
