PENNSYLVANIA — Over the weekend, Trump endorsed Oz in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race, and while he hasn’t yet chosen his preferred “Trump Primary” candidate, his cronies have long been making their mark in Pennsylvania’s increasingly ugly and historically crowded Governor’s race.
Trump’s endorsement this weekend sent shock waves through the Commonwealth, including in the GOP campaigns themselves where McCormick consultant and Trump loyalist Stephen Miller promptly jumped ship — but Trump’s impact has long dominated GOP primaries. For months, candidates in the Governor’s race have been “crafting their campaigns in [Trump’s] image,” embracing an extreme and unpopular anti-choice, anti-worker agenda, and championing his dangerous Big Lie — and their efforts have clearly impressed Trump’s inner circle.
“While Trump hasn’t picked one of the many far-right career politicians in the GOP race for Governor yet, his long shadow extends over the ‘Trump Primary’ — and his cronies have descended on the Commonwealth in droves,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa Nahem. “The MAGA candidates are doing everything they can to win Trump’s coveted endorsement, championing his election conspiracy theories, promoting his failed policies, and wasting taxpayer money on a sham election audit, and Pennsylvanians know that the candidates will always put loyalty to Trump ahead of the future of our Commonwealth.”
While Trump hasn’t endorsed in Republicans’ “hot mess” of a gubernatorial primary, let’s take a look at Trump’s most notable cronies who have — and whose side they’re on.
