Senator Bob Casey: “These Fake Electors and Election Deniers. Why Would You Want Them Anywhere Near Your Campaign? That’s What I’d Ask [McCormick]”

PENNSYLVANIA — David McCormick attended yet another fundraiser with two fake electors involved in plots to overturn the 2020 election, according to a new report from the Keystone Newsroom. McCormick has deep ties to Trump fake electors, insurrectionists, and election deniers, including hiring a now-indicted fake elector to run his 2022 recount efforts.

ICYMI: Keystone Newsroom: Dave McCormick attended a campaign fundraiser on Thursday co-hosted by multiple fake electors

  • Dave McCormick continues to associate himself with Republican officials involved in the fake elector scheme designed to overturn the 2020 election to keep former President Donald Trump in power.
  • McCormick, a former Connecticut based hedge fund manager for Bridgewater Associates, one of the world’s largest hedge funds, and Republican candidate for US Senate, held a fundraiser at the Union League in Philadelphia on Thursday that was co-chaired by two fake electors.
  • Delaware County GOP Chair Andy Riley and Bucks County GOP Chair Pat Porpik were co-chairs of the fundraiser and donated $10,000 a piece to McCormick.
  • McCormick’s opponent, US Sen. Bob Casey, wondered why anyone would want to associate themselves with fake electors or election deniers when asked about the fundraiser at a campaign event in Harrisburg on Thursday.
  • “Why would anyone want to hang around with those kind of people? These fake electors and election deniers. Why would you want them anywhere near your campaign? That’s what I’d ask him,” Casey said in an interview with The Keystone.
  • McCormick previously attended a fundraiser with a Jan. 6th attendee and Thursday’s fundraiser is the latest example of McCormick associating himself with fake electors
  • The Capital-Star also reported that McCormick had multiple fake electors on his payroll during the 2022 primary election, when McCormick lost to TV doctor Mehmet Oz by less than a thousand votes in the GOP Senate primary.
  • McCormick paid Mike Roman, who was arrested for his involvement in the Georgia fake elector scheme, close to $40,000 to be a special assistant to the campaign. McCormick also paid two other fake electors for campaign related activities.
  • Suk Smith was paid $16,000 for working as a campaign field director in 2020 and Bill Bachenberg, the chairperson of the fake electors, was reimbursed for hosting a campaign event at his gun range, Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays. McCormick’s campaign wrote a $1,060 check to Bachenberg’s business.
