Pennsylvania’s infrastructure grades out as a C-Minus, with 3,353 bridges in need of repairs, a $1.4 billion shortfall in maintenance costs for schools, and nearly 650,000 Pennsylvanians living in areas without access to “minimally acceptable” broadband speeds. PITTSBURGH — The Biden White House is amplifying the push for its $2.3 trillion infrastructure package with the release of state-by-state breakdowns that show the dire shape of roads, bridges, the power grid and housing affordability.
One of the states to receive a negative “report card” was Pennsylvania. According to the report, Pa. received a C-minus.

The plan also addresses the 3,353 bridges statewide, pledging to devote millions of dollars to repair roads and bridges. It calls for $115 billion for these transformations across the US.
Another major issue in Pennsylvania, according to Biden, is broadband infrastructure. The White House said 5% of Pa. residents live in areas that provide “minimally acceptable (internet) speeds.” The American Jobs Plan wants to invest $100 billion to bring universal, high-speed coverage to every family nationwide.

President Joe Biden’s administration on Monday issued report cards for all 50 states to raise key points about why a massive infrastructure bill is necessary, giving Pennsylvania a C- and noting the “systemic lack of investment” across the commonwealth.
The report cards highlighted 12 areas in each state Biden says would be addressed under the American Jobs Plan, including roads and bridges, public transportation, drinking water, housing, child care, veterans health and more.
Most states received an overall grade of C or C-, but several received D grades as Biden’s administration pushes to spend $2.3 trillion on the plan.
