ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS, LET’S REMEMBER HOW JOHN DISANTO DEMOLISHED THE LOCAL TAVERN WHERE IT WAS DRAFTED

PENNSYLVANIA – Today marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Bill of Rights. Pennsylvania has a special place in his historic moment as historians believe seven of the ten amendments that make up the document were originally drafted at the James Bell Tavern in South Central Pennsylvania — which was torn down in 2016 by John DiSanto through his real estate company, Triple Crown Corporation.

DiSanto destroyed the historic site after promising to cease demolition following a public outcry at the height of his campaign for State Senate in 2016. However, after DiSanto was elected, his company demolished the tavern anyway.

“John DiSanto used to claim he was a constitutional conservative, but he literally demolished the building where a substantial portion of the Constitution was written,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesman Brendan Welch. “Today we’re reminded of the fact that he is a hypocrite who will say anything to win an election and then do the opposite once he’s in office. After saying he wouldn’t, he destroyed a critical element of American history just to increase his multi-million dollar fortune. He is profiting off of a broken promise.”
