PA DEMS ANNOUNCE “BACK TO BLUE” TOUR

Rallies and canvasses across Pennsylvania coincide with earlier-than-ever surge of state party organizing staff

PENNSYLVANIAToday, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party announced the BACK TO BLUE TOUR, the initial organizing push of the 2020 election.

Notable Pennsylvania Democrats and elected officials will rally with local voters and volunteers to share our plan for victory in 2020, unify around our fight for better health care and wages for working families, and launch canvass and phone bank shifts to engage voters. The rallies will take place at the following dates and locations:

Saturday, February 15th — Erie

Saturday, February 22nd — Scranton

Saturday, February 29th — Harrisburg, Monessen, Bensalem

Guests will include Governor Tom Wolf, Senator Bob Casey, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, Attorney General Josh Shapiro, Congressman Matt Cartwright, and other local Democrats.

“These rallies are a reflection of the energy and enthusiasm for Democratic victory we’re seeing across Pennsylvania,” said PA Dems Chairwoman Nancy Patton Mills. “Pennsylvania Democrats are working hard and showing up in every part of the Commonwealth. Our fundraising is rolling at a record pace, our ground game is up and running earlier than ever before, and our voters are fired up and ready to turn Pennsylvania back to blue. We are excited to share our progress and invite voters of all stripes to join our fight for affordable health care, better wages for working families, and an economy that works for everyone — not just Republican politicians and their wealthy friends.”

The tour coincides with an earlier-than-ever surge of organizers hired throughout Pennsylvania. The PA Dems will have organizers in 10 counties across the commonwealth by the end of February, with expansion continuing all the way through the April 28th primary election. This rapid and expansive growth of early on-the-ground staff shows the commitment by the state and national party to Pennsylvania’s pivotal role in 2020. The organizers will work to mobilize voters let down by the broken promises of Donald Trump and Harrisburg Republicans — who continue to attack affordable health care and keep Pennsylvania’s minimum wage the lowest in the country.

“This early organizing surge gives us a big advantage as we gear up for 2020,” said PA Dems Executive Director Sinceré Harris. “This year, no voter will be left behind. We are fully committed to competing in every community in Pennsylvania because every community has been hurt by the broken promises of Donald Trump and Harrisburg Republicans. Trump and his allies have advanced an agenda that sells out everyday Pennsylvanians for the wealthy and well-connected. The president backs a lawsuit that would rip away protections for pre-existing conditions. He’s giving massive tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans while attacking Medicare and Medicaid. Enough is enough. We need to send Pennsylvania back to blue so we can truly build the best possible future for our families.”
