PA DEMS SHOW EARLY 2020 ORGANIZING FORCE WITH “BACK TO BLUE” KICKOFFS IN BUCKS, WESTMORELAND COUNTIES

PENNSYLVANIA — On Saturday, February 29th, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party continued its statewide “Back to Blue” organizing tour with stops in Bucks and Westmoreland Counties. In Feasterville-Trevose, Governor Tom Wolf, PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro, and HD-18 Candidate Harold Hayes joined leading Bucks Democrats to rally local voters around the PA Dems’ 2020 organizing strategy and kick off an afternoon of canvassing and phone banking. Lieutenant Governor Jon Fetterman, Rep. Austin Davis, and HD-58 Candidate Rob Prah rallied a group in Monessen.

The kickoffs coincided with the upcoming competitive State House special elections in Bucks and Westmoreland counties, boosting the candidacies of Hayes and Prah.

The tour marks an earlier-than-ever surge of field organizers hired throughout Pennsylvania who are working to mobilize voters let down by the broken promises of Donald Trump and Harrisburg Republicans. Previous stops took place in Erie with Lt. Gov. Fetterman and Scranton with Senator Bob Casey and Congressman Matt Cartwright. The next event will take place on Saturday, March 7th in Harrisburg.

Check out some of the coverage below.

Pennsylvania Capital-Star: “Wolf and Attorney General Josh Shapiro were in this Bucks County community on Saturday as part of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party’s “Back to Blue” Tour.

The tour brings the commonwealth’s most powerful Democrats to the areas most crucial to flip Pennsylvania’s twenty electoral votes back after President Donald Trump won them in 2016.

Earlier this month, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman visited Erie. And last week, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., and U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-8th District, stopped in Scranton.”

Observer-Reporter: “Lt. Gov. John Fetterman rallied Democrats Saturday in Monessen, calling for campaign workers to stress the party’s support for unions, public education and women’s rights to their reproduction destiny.

The Democrat from Braddock also said those who plan to go door-to-door also need to draw attention to a special election March 17 for representative of the state’s 58th District.

‘Pennsylvania picks the next president,’ Fetterman said before a packed hall in an Italian Club in this struggling Westmoreland County city.’”

Politics PA: “ The first big race of 2020 is taking shape in lower Bucks County and both parties are going all in to win it.

The Saturday afternoon get-together of Democrats for Hayes included speeches from Gov. Tom Wolf, Attorney General Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania Democratic Party Vice Chair Sen. Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia), Bucks County Democratic Party Chair John Cordisco, and a number of other local Democrats.

Wolf said that issues such as the minimum wage, non discrimination bills, criminal justice reform, and more would be addressed if the Democrats gained control of the state House and said electing Hayes would be a step in the right direction to achieving those goals.”

Tribune-Review: “‘We can take Westmoreland (County) back,’ Lt. Gov. John Fetterman told about 100 Democratic Party volunteers, many of whom were union members, at the Italian Social Club in Monessen on Saturday…

Fetterman pivoted from talking about the importance of winning the state General Assembly to taking shots at President Trump’s bid for another term in the White House.

‘Without Pennsylvania, Donald Trump has no realistic way to 270 electoral college votes to win the presidency’, Fetterman said.”
