PA DEMS STATEMENT ON HISTORIC CONFIRMATION OF JUDGE JACKSON TO THE SUPREME COURT

PENNSYLVANIA — Jason Henry, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, issued the following statement after Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed by a bipartisan U.S. Senate vote to the Supreme Court of the United States:

“Today, the Senate made history by confirming Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson is exceptionally qualified; an accomplished lawyer, public defender and federal judge; the daughter of public school teachers and, now, the first Black woman who will ever serve on the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson has gained overwhelming support from across the ideological spectrum and from the public, and her character, integrity and understanding of the law make her an incredible addition to our nation’s highest court.

“In spite of broad support and her unimpeachable credentials, Pennsylvania’s Senator Pat Toomey still chose to vote against confirming a highly-qualified and historic nominee–Toomey’s poor choice is one that Pennsylvanians will not soon forget. We congratulate Judge Jackson, and commend Senator Bob Casey and the Senators who voted to confirm Judge Jackson’s historic nomination.”
