PA DEMS UNVEIL DELEGATE SELECTION PLAN

PENNSYLVANIA – Today the Pennsylvania Democratic Party published for public comment its initial draft of the 2024 delegate selection process.  The Party expects that a subsequent version of this plan, incorporating public input, will be adopted by the entirety of the Democratic Party State Committee at a meeting in Pittsburgh on June 3, 2023.

A copy of the plan and a process for members of the public to provide feedback is available at www.padems.com/2024_Delegate_Selection_Plan.

The Delegate Selection Plan is adopted pursuant to rules and documents promulgated by the Democratic National Committee and has been proposed by the State Party leadership after work by a statewide committee of lawyers in cooperation with the DNC’s Office of Party Affairs and Delegate Selection.

The plan includes allocation of delegates, alternate delegates, and standing committee members, the process for Presidential candidates to select their members of the delegation, the process to select the chair of the Delegation, and an affirmative action plan and outreach and inclusion program, which was approved earlier this year by the Executive Committee of the State Party.

The adoption of the Delegate Selection Plan will be the next step in the process leading to the 2024 Pennsylvania Primary in April 2024 and the participation of Pennsylvania’s delegation at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago from August 19 to 22.
