POLITICO: MESSY GOP PRIMARY COULD GET EVEN MORE CROWDED

Washington Republicans desperately try to salvage nightmare primary in PA

PENNSYLVANIANew reporting from Politico highlights just how dire things have gotten in the GOP’s Pennsylvania Senate primary, as Washington Republicans are trying to recruit David McCormick, a former Bush administration official who lives in Connecticut, to join the field.

It’s no secret that this primary has become a nightmare scenario for the GOP. Their Trump-endorsed candidate Sean Parnell is dealing with accusations of abuse from his estranged wife, with rival candidate Jeff Bartos calling Parnell “unelectable”. A Bartos supporting Super PAC is hitting Parnell with a six-figure campaign of attack ads, while Trump mega-donor Carla Sands has injected $3 million of her own money into her campaign

If McCormick does indeed enter, there will be yet another candidate in the crowded field throwing mud.

Regardless of who comes out, it’s clear that these flawed, well-funded candidates are going to guarantee that it is a long and messy fight to the end.
