PRESIDENT BIDEN’S BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE LAW WILL HELP EASE SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES

PENNSYLVANIA —  The holidays can be stressful on both families and small businesses across the commonwealth, but President Biden has taken action to help. Thanks to the president’s ongoing work to strengthen our supply chain and the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, shelves will be stocked and families will be able to celebrate this holiday season.

President Biden understands how higher prices can squeeze the middle-class, which is why he announced new steps to continue the progress at our ports, highlighting that the fourth-largest ocean carrier in the world has worked with the administration to unclog ports by providing incentives to get containers picked up faster, and on nights and weekends.

In addition, the president’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law helps protect and improve U.S. supply chains by investing $17 billion in ports and waterways, repairing airports with $25 billion in new spending, putting an additional $110 billion into roads and bridges and investing $66 billion into improving passenger and freight rail.

While Republicans continue to root against the economy, President Biden and Democrats have taken action to strengthen our supply chains and lower costs for American families. Leading economists and political leaders (including Republican U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio) have said the infrastructure law will help address the current supply chain issues and will be anti-inflationary.

The reality is that while developed countries around the world are facing inflation and higher prices because of a global pandemic, President Biden’s Rescue Plan and economic response means that Americans are better off than families around the world. Even after inflation, the typical American family has more money in their pockets than they did last year or the year before that—we’re the only developed economy where that’s true.

And, while we still face challenges, we see good news across the economy. Jobs are up. Wages are up. Child poverty is down by 40% and new small businesses are up by 30%.

President Biden refuses to sit on the sidelines while Americans feel the pain of shipping delays and higher prices,” said PA Dems Spokesperson Rosie Lapowsky. “That’s why he’s using every tool at his disposal to lower costs and fight inflation — and we’re already seeing results. It’s why the president fought hard to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to protect and improve U.S. supply chains.
