REMINDER: Biden Turns Promises into Action for Pennsylvania Workers

“After just one year in office, Mr. Biden turned one of the worst economies of our lifetime into historic growth.”

PENNSYLVANIA — Thanks to President Biden, the future looks bright for our workers in Pennsylvania, wrote Darrin Kelly, president of the Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council, in an opinion piece earlier this year. Biden is delivering on his Made in America vision by bringing companies to the table and convincing them to bet on American workers, Kelly notes. With the implementation of Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, an estimated 595,680 additional jobs are headed home to Pennsylvania.

While Mr. Biden has turned his promises into action to help Pennsylvania workers, Republicans are not only trying to obstruct progress: They also have no plans of their own to lower costs and create more good paying jobs.”

Pittsburgh Post Gazette: Darrin Kelly: Pittsburgh is at the heart of Biden economic recovery

  • Pennsylvania is at the heart of [President Biden’s] efforts to build back a strong middle class, create jobs, grow the economy and ensure working families can thrive. Thanks to Mr. Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and his American Rescue Plan, Western Pennsylvania’s future is back on track. There is no doubt we still face many challenges, but the future looks bright for our workers.
  • After just one year in office, Mr. Biden turned one of the worst economies of our lifetime into historic growth — and the lowest unemployment rate our nation has seen since 1969.
  • Last year was the biggest year for job creation in history, with 6.4 million jobs added to our economy. Now, with the implementation of Mr. Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, an estimated 595,680 additional jobs are headed home to Pennsylvania.
  • Mr. Biden is delivering on his Made in America vision, bringing companies to the table and convincing them to bet on American workers. [Earlier this year], Mr. Biden announced a new Intel semiconductor plant in Ohio that will create good-paying manufacturing and construction jobs, slow price increases and strengthen our economy. The same is true in Michigan where, earlier this week, the president convinced General Motors to invest $7 billion — its largest investment ever — in the state to improve electric vehicle manufacturing and create 4,000 new jobs.
  • In our commonwealth alone, Mr. Biden’s American Rescue Plan created 93,600 jobs for Pennsylvanians who were struggling amid the pandemic. He delivered stimulus payments to more than 6,505,900 people in our state, not to mention more than $12 billion in relief to state and local governments. These funds support our fire, EMS, police and essential service departments, keeping our cities running during this pandemic. They also help Pennsylvanians pay heating and water bills, uplift food banks and enrich the economy.
  • While Mr. Biden has turned his promises into action to help Pennsylvania workers, Republicans are not only trying to obstruct progress: They also have no plans of their own to lower costs and create more good paying jobs.
  • But thanks to Mr. Biden and Democrats, Pennsylvania is set to receive billions of dollars in funding for roads, highways, bridges, rural broadband, water infrastructure and more. These investments will not only rebuild our crumbling infrastructure; they will create good jobs in the process.
  • Meanwhile, nearly every Republican in Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation voted against these critical resources. Yet, of course, they are the first to praise investments when they are made in their districts.
