SCOTT MARTIN OFFICIALLY JUMPS IN HISTORICALLY CROWDED “SUPER MAGA” PRIMARY

PENNSYLVANIA — Today, Pennsylvania state Senator Scott Martin became the 12th (or is the 13th? Or maybe 15th? Honestly, we’re losing count…) candidate to join the crowded, messy far-right “Super MAGA” primary.

Scott Martin enters the field of MAGA candidates with a well-established far-right resume. On the Big Lie, Martin “fully” supported a partisan audit of the 2020 election. He’s also promoted an extreme anti-labor agenda, including wanting to make Pennsylvania a state that rips off workers with lower wages and less rights to organize for good benefits and safe workplaces. As a “pro-life legislator,” Martin often brags about his extreme anti-choice positions — he vocally supports bringing a Texas-style abortion ban to the Commonwealth and has sponsored legislation to defund Planned Parenthood.

In response to Martin’s announcement, Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa Nahem issued the following statement:

“Scott Martin is yet another far-right candidate in a field of MAGA wannabes who sees the key to success in the GOP primary as embracing every far-right litmus test thrown their way — no matter how much it harms Pennsylvania families,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa Nahem. “There are so many Trumpian candidates in this race that Pennsylvanians are having a hard time keeping track — they barely remember all their names, and they certainly won’t remember another far-right candidate trying to make a name for himself in the ‘Super MAGA’ primary by championing a dangerous, out-of-touch agenda.”
