“THE TRUMP EFFECT:” PENNSYLVANIA REPUBLICANS BOW TO TRUMP ONCE AGAIN, VOTING TO CANCEL LIZ CHENEY FOR CALLING OUT TRUMP’S LIES

Representatives Meuser, Perry, Keller, Joyce, Reschenthaler, and Kelly embrace Trump and squash dissent within their own party

PENNSYLVANIA — Yesterday, Pennsylvania’s Republican members of the House of Representatives once again embraced Donald Trump and the Big Lie, voting to oust Rep. Liz Cheney as Conference Chair because she was willing to call out Trump’s lies. Taking sides in the expanding GOP civil war, Representatives Meuser, Perry, Keller, Joyce, Reschenthaler, and Kelly all sided with Trump and chose to punish a conservative lawmaker who criticized him.

Pennsylvania Republicans like Meuser twisted themselves into pretzels to justify their votes, claiming that they didn’t want to “cancel or ban Donald Trump and his supporters from the party” — but in the end, loyalty to Donald Trump was all that mattered.

“Pennsylvania Republicans have bowed to Donald Trump once again, voting to cancel Liz Cheney for calling out Trump’s dangerous lies about the 2020 election,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesman Brendan Welch. “Loyalty to Donald Trump is the ultimate litmus test for Pennsylvania Republicans, and in a matter of minutes, they proved that their loyalty to Trump is more valuable than the truth.”

Pennsylvania Republicans’ revisionist history and backward logic can’t erase their record of promoting Donald Trump’s dangerous lies and conspiracy theories
