TRUMP SLAMS MCCORMICK IN OZ TELE-TOWN HALL

Trump calls McCormick “very pro-China” who is going to “let China eat our lunch”

PENNSYLVANIA – This past Friday Donald Trump held a tele-town hall with his endorsed candidate for Senate, New Jersey daytime TV host Mehmet Oz. During the event, Trump made sure to slam Connecticut hedge fund executive David McCormick over his ties to China:

Trump: And, look, China, look, China has been a real problem for our country in many ways. Nobody has any idea how bad it’s been. But it’s been a real big problem for the United States. We saved the steel industry and I’ve saved other industries because with what I did with taxes and tariffs. But again we took in hundreds of billions of dollars from China. No other President has done anything and Oz is the man that understands it better than anybody else. Some of the opponents, I have to tell you, are very pro-China and they’re going to let China eat our lunch; we can’t let that happen.

Oz made sure to bring up Trump’s attacks again before the end of the call, demonstrating how both Trump’s endorsement and his attacks on McCormick will be central to his message down the stretch:

Oz: President Trump was also very clear that there was a member of the senate competitors, one of my opponents, who’s been very soft on China and made a lot of money in China. And that’s one of the reasons that I find that disqualifies him from this candidacy. And I’m quite optimistic that many of you see it the exact same way.
