U.S. JOBLESS CLAIMS DROP TO A PANDEMIC LOW, SERVING AS THE LATEST REMINDER OF ECONOMIC GROWTH UNDER BIDEN

PENNSYLVANIA — U.S. jobless claims today dropped to 310,000, a pandemic low and a sign of strength of the growing economy in Pennsylvania and nationwide under President Biden’s leadership.

In just a little over eight months, the positive impact President Biden has had on Pennsylvania’s economy is impossible to miss. Thanks to his American Rescue Plan, his continuing tax cut for working families and the historic investments set to come from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, Pennsylvania’s economy is roaring back.

New jobless claims showing a 17-month nationwide low are just the latest instance of news of an economic recovery. Overall, since President Biden took office, the average number of new unemployment claims has been cut in half. And just last month, Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate fell to 6.6%, a 49% drop from July 2020’s 13% unemployment rate. The Pennsylvania economy gained 28,800 jobs in the last month and America has created an average of 540,000 jobs each month since the President was sworn in – the fastest rate in history.

“Today’s jobless claims are just another reminder of what so many Pennsylvanians have felt since the start of Joe Biden’s presidency: Help is here,” said Rosie Lapowsky, PA Dems Spokesperson. “From providing needed relief to local communities, to delivering a middle class tax cut to working parents, the American Rescue Plan has been crucial to Pennsylvania’s recovery. In order to keep building Pennsylvania back better than before, Congress must now pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal.”
