WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: DAVID MCCORMICK ISN’T “RELATABLE,” OR SOMEONE YOU WANT TO “HAVE A BEER” WITH

WILK “Morning News” Host Nancy Kman: “As a Former Hedge Fund CEO…How Do You Make That Something Charismatic or Something People Would Like…”

PENNSYLVANIA — Mega-millionaire hedge fund CEO David McCormick is taking heat for living in Connecticut, bragging about spending half his time with “really wealthy people,” and traveling by private jet when he visits Pennsylvania. Yesterday, the hosts of WILK Morning News questioned whether Pennsylanians can relate to McCormick and noted he’s not someone Pennsylvanians would want to “have a beer” with.

Listen HERE:

  • Host Nancy Kman: “And McCormick is not well known. And I don’t know what he’s done to even kind of get out there into the limelight so to speak. And again—like this is no offense to him, but as a former hedge fund CEO, how do you make that—I don’t even like to say the word sexy because we’re not looking for sexy—but how do you make that something charismatic or something people would like…”
  • Host Jason Barsky: “Relatable.”
  • Kman: “Relatable or—”
  • Barsky: “Beneficial—”
  • Kman: “To people who sit and have a beer? I think it’d be more like sit and have a—you know—some fancy wine with him.”

This is the latest in slew of questions McCormick has faced over his record.

Open Book with Anthony Scaramucci:

  • Host Anthony Scaramucci: [Trump] says that you are Wall Street, not Main Street. He says you’re soft on China. Not tough on China. You’re a globalist, not America first. Weak, not a fighter. […]
  • David McCormick: …And so you know, when you get in the ring, I had lots of people say bad things about me when I was in the ring.

KDKA Radio:

  • Host Natalie Bencivenga: The David McCormick issue, who owns homes worth millions of dollars and he’s not even here. I also found this really interesting story on Penn Capital-Star […] ‘property taxes paid late twice on McCormick’s Pittsburgh house, records show.’ So, the guy isn’t even here, probably forgot he had this property, doesn’t even pay his taxes, and yet we’re supposed to take him seriously?

6ABC “Inside Story”:

  • Host Tamala Edwards: [McCormick] was talking to Ivy League Business students and he said […] So, I’m everywhere prospecting mostly with really wealthy people’ then he said the other half of the time he’s in Pennsylvania, where the median income is $55,000 to $65,000 […] Did [McCormick] walk into a situation where he could not be classified as the guy who doesn’t care about Pennsylvania – he cares about the wealthy people and being their senator?
  • Panelist Sam Katz: That won’t be a hard characteristic to tag [McCormick] with. He is the head of a hedge fund. He lives in Connecticut. […] I think he’s out of touch. […] The Republican Party in Pennsylvania can’t find a Pennsylvanian to run for the United States Senate?
  • […]
  • Former Congressman Bob Brady: [McCormick] thinks he’s above everybody.

6ABC “Inside Story”:

  • Panelist Melissa Robbins: If you look at David McCormick, here’s a man who has homes in Dallas and Connecticut and Pittsburgh, and all over the place. […] You know, as soon as he announces, he jumps up, he flies here to Pennsylvania, he purchases a home. […] Who’s to say he hops up and moves to Texas and he runs there? How can independent voters or swing voters trust a man who has not established residency in our home state?
  • Panelist Brian Tierney: He needs to stop doing things like, he wrote a check a few months ago to Elise Stefanik, who’s a Republican leader. He did do it from his Connecticut address.
