UGLY “TRUMP PRIMARY” GETS UGLIER THANKS TO “FLAILING” BILL MCSWAIN AND “CAREER POLITICIAN” DAVE WHITE

Bill McSwain attacks three of his fellow GOP candidates in one ad — “career politician” Dave White counter-attacks and the mudslinging war escalates.

PENNSYLVANIA — Yesterday, Bill McSwain struck a nerve when he unveiled a new ad attacking three fellow GOP gubernatorial candidates — and “career politician” Dave White fired back with a scathing statement lobbing a slew of attacks McSwain’s way.

McSwain called Dave White a “career politician” — joining other Republicans who have called White out for his hypocrisy, despite 24 years in office. He also highlighted that White raised property taxes by $20M while on the Delaware County Council. In turn, White attacked “former failed U.S. Attorney” Bill McSwain as a “flailing” “RINO,” who’s desperately trying to save his “imploding candidacy.”

“For once, Bill McSwain isn’t being misleading: Dave White is a 24 year politician who raised property taxes for hardworking families as a Delaware County Councilman — but unfortunately for McSwain, attacking his fellow GOP candidates won’t paper over the simple fact that he’s failed Pennsylvanians,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa Nahem. “While the GOP candidates for Governor desperately turn on each other to make it out of the ‘Trump Primary,’ Pennsylvanians see extreme politicians whose anti-worker, anti-choice, and anti-democracy agenda would be devastating to our Commonwealth.”

This week marked a clear escalation in the infighting among the Republican candidates desperate to make it out of their “hot mess” of a primary — but it by no means is the first time they’ve attacked each other. In case you’re having a tough time keeping up (don’t worry we are too), check out some of the brutal attacks the GOP candidates have lobbed at each other:

  • A group backing Barletta went all-in against “Pat Toomey’s puppet” Bill McSwain — emphasizing his record of being “weak on law and order,” “weak on election fraud,” and “weak on Republican values.”
  • Bill McSwain attacked Doug Mastriano and Jake Corman over their vote for Act 77, the GOP supported legislation that established mail in voting in Pennsylvania. Now, Mastriano and Corman vow to repeal Act 77, and join fellow Republican candidates in trying to make it more difficult for Pennsylvanians to vote.
  • Dave White targeted Bill McSwain on “law and order” as McSwain rolled out his plan to combat crime in a press conference. White attacked McSwain for his record of self-promotion, saying “Like a career bureaucrat, McSwain’s answer to increased violent crime was to feature himself in a taxpayer-funded billboard.”
  • Jake Corman’s desperate attempt to attack Doug Mastriano’s grassroots MAGA support and fundraising haul backfired with Franklin County District Attorney Matt Fogal calling his “political stunt” “shameful” and “frivolous.”
  • Melissa Hart went after Lou Barletta, Jake Corman, Bill McSwain, and Dave White for their “diva-esque debate demands,” after the four far-right men issued their criteria for gracing the debate stage and avoiding “mean questions.”
  • Doug Mastriano attacked — everyone. Mastriano went on Facebook Live to hit his fellow GOP candidates for their “deep pockets” and lack of support.
  • Melissa Hart had strong words for Bill McSwain after the self-proclaimed “law and order” candidate shared he was “proud” to accept an endorsement from disgraced former U.S. Senate candidate and alleged domestic abuser Sean Parnell, and praised Parnell for being an “outspoken defender of our conservative values.” In response, Hart simply stated, “McSwain isn’t the ‘law and order’ candidate, he just plays one in his commercials.”
